Privacy policy
Last updated: October 2026
Convertilo Forecast has no accounts and does not ask for personal data to use it. This policy explains what information is processed when you use the Site, for what purpose, which third parties it communicates with, how long it is kept and what rights you have.
1. Controller and contact
The owners of the Site are responsible for processing the information described in this policy. You can contact us at the email shown at the bottom of this page for questions or requests to access, rectify or delete data.
2. What information is processed
- Technical connection data (such as IP address, browser, device and the date and time of the request) received by the hosting server (Vercel) to deliver and protect the Site.
- Aggregate visit statistics measured with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify you.
- The language you chose, stored in a session cookie (see Cookies).
- We have no accounts, passwords or sign-up forms, and we do not ask for your name, email or phone number.
3. Weather, air, marine and alerts: requests made from our server
Weather, air quality and marine data are requested from our server to Open-Meteo, not from your browser. Your IP address is therefore not shared with that provider: we only send the coordinates of the city or place you look up. SMN alerts are also read by our server; your browser does not connect to the SMN.
4. Rain radar: direct requests from your browser
On the radar pages (/radar) your browser requests the map from OpenStreetMap and the radar images from RainViewer. Unlike the rest of the Site, those services receive your IP address and technical browser data directly, and are governed by their own privacy policies. This only happens on those pages.
5. Location (optional)
“Use my location” only turns on when you ask for it and accept the browser permission. Your coordinates (rounded to about 1,000 meters) are sent to our server only to look up the weather and alerts for that area; the server requests the weather from Open-Meteo with those coordinates, not with your IP address. We do not store them linked to you, although the response may stay for a few hours in a technical cache that does not identify you. You can revoke the permission at any time in your browser settings.
6. Place search
When you search for a place, the text you type goes through our server, which queries Open-Meteo's geocoding service to find coordinates. That text is not joined to your IP address in that query and we do not store it linked to you, although the result may stay up to 24 hours in a technical cache. Avoid typing personal data into the search box.
7. Telegram notifications (optional)
- If you tap “Notify me on Telegram”, Telegram opens with the Convertilo bot (@convertiloar_bot). The link carries the area you chose (rounded coordinates, place name and language). Only if you confirm in Telegram, the bot stores your numeric chat identifier together with that area, the place name, the language and a record of which alerts it has already notified you about. The bot does not store your name, username or phone number.
- We use that data only to notify you of SMN alerts affecting your area. We do not use it for any other purpose or share it with third parties for commercial purposes.
- It is kept until you delete it with /cancelarsmn, or until the chat no longer exists or blocks the bot. The record of notifications already sent is deleted after 14 days. You can see your areas with /avisossmn.
- The data is stored in a Supabase database with access restricted to the server. Telegram handles your data under its own policy. The bot's details are in Convertilo's privacy policy.
8. Cookies and storage
We use a single technical language cookie (NEXT_LOCALE) and no advertising or tracking cookies. We do not store personal data in your browser's local storage. Details are in the cookie policy.
9. Third parties involved
- Vercel: hosting and aggregate statistics for the Site.
- Open-Meteo: weather, air quality and marine data and geocoding, from our server.
- Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (SMN): alerts, read from our server.
- OpenStreetMap and RainViewer: map and radar, only on the radar pages, requested directly by your browser.
- Telegram, the Convertilo bot and Supabase (database): only if you ask for alert notifications on Telegram.
- These providers process data under their own policies. We do not sell your data or use it for personalized advertising.
10. Purposes and legal bases
- Delivering the Site and keeping it secure and available (legitimate interest).
- Measuring use of the Site in aggregate form to improve it (legitimate interest, without identifying you).
- Showing you the weather, marine, air and alerts for a place you choose or authorize with your location (your request and consent).
- Sending you alert notifications on Telegram if you ask for them (your request and consent, which you can withdraw with /cancelarsmn).
11. How long data is kept
- Hosting technical logs: for the time Vercel sets under its policy.
- Visit statistics: in aggregate, anonymous form.
- Weather responses, searches and alerts: in a technical cache for between 15 minutes and 24 hours, not linked to you.
- Telegram notification data: until you delete it, or until the chat no longer exists or blocks the bot; the record of what was sent, 14 days.
12. Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), keep secret keys only on the server and restrict access to the database. No system is completely infallible: we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. International transfers
Some providers we use (hosting, database, Telegram, Open-Meteo, maps and radar) may process data on servers located outside your country. By using the Site, you understand that your data may be processed in those countries.
14. Children
The Site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. Telegram notifications are subject to the minimum age Telegram requires. If you believe a child has given us personal data, write to us so we can delete it.
15. Your rights (Argentine Law 25,326)
- Under Argentine Law 25,326 on the Protection of Personal Data, you have the right to access, rectify, update and delete your data. You may exercise the right of access free of charge at intervals of not less than six months, unless you prove a legitimate interest (article 14, paragraph 3). Since we do not store personal data linked to you except in Telegram notifications, we will normally have nothing to provide or delete beyond that.
- The Agency for Access to Public Information (AAIP), the supervisory authority under Law 25,326, may handle complaints from those who believe their rights have been affected.
16. Visitors from the European Union, the United Kingdom and Brazil
- If you are in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) may apply. If you are in Brazil, the General Data Protection Law (LGPD) may apply. In that case, in addition to the above, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of or objection to processing and portability of your data, withdraw your consent at any time and lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (in Brazil, the ANPD).
- The bases for processing are those indicated in section 10.
17. No automated decisions, data sales or personalized advertising
We make no automated decisions with legal effects about you, we do not sell your data and we do not use it for personalized advertising or profiling.
18. Security incidents
If a security incident significantly affecting your personal data occurs, we will act to contain it and, where applicable law requires, notify the affected people and the supervisory authority.
19. Changes and contact
We may update this policy; the current version is the one published on this page, with its update date. To exercise your rights or ask questions, write to the contact email shown at the bottom.
