Terms and conditions of use

Last updated: October 2026

These Terms govern your use of the Convertilo Forecast website (the “Site”), including its weather, marine, air and sun, radar, alerts, guides, globe and world clocks pages, and the optional Telegram notifications. By using it you accept these terms. If you disagree, please do not use the Site.

1. Acceptance and scope

  • The Site is operated by its owners (the “owners”), whose contact appears at the bottom of every page. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy, are the entire agreement between you and the owners regarding use of the Site.
  • You declare that you have the capacity to accept these Terms. If you are a minor, use the Site under the supervision of a responsible adult.
  • The owners of the Site are not an official meteorological service and are not affiliated with any public meteorology, hydrography or civil protection agency.

2. Model forecasts: informational and unofficial

The Site shows weather forecasts and the time in cities around the world. Forecasts are computed by weather models and obtained from third parties; they are not produced by an official meteorological service or by us. The Site is for information only and is not an official meteorological service.

3. Uncertainty grows with every day

  • Every forecast is an estimate and may not come true. Accuracy drops the further away the date is: we label days 1 to 7 as “reliable”, days 8 to 10 as “indicative” and days 11 to 16 as “trend”. These labels are a general guide, not a guarantee.
  • Local or extreme events (severe storms, hail, strong winds, flash floods, fog, frost) may not be well represented in the models.
  • Values are shown for a geographic point and may differ from what happens in your exact spot, especially in mountains, on the coast, in valleys or in big cities.

4. Uses not recommended and risky activities

  • The Site is not designed or suitable as the only source of information for: maritime, river or air navigation; critical agricultural, industrial or construction operations; organizing mass events; mountain activities, diving, surfing, sport flying or other risky sports; health decisions; or emergency response.
  • In those cases always use official and professional sources (for example, the National Meteorological Service, the Naval Hydrography Service, the Argentine Naval Prefecture or local authorities), and do not make decisions affecting your safety, health, property or business based only on this Site.
  • If you decide to use the Site's information anyway, you do so at your own risk.

5. No warranties and limitation of liability

  • The Site is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee the accuracy, freshness, completeness, timeliness or continuous availability of the information, or that the Site will be free of errors or interruptions.
  • To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the owners of the Site are not liable for direct or indirect damages, loss of profit, loss of opportunity or damages arising from the use of the information published, from errors or omissions, from delays in alerts or notifications, or from the Site's unavailability.
  • Nothing in these Terms limits any consumer rights you have by law that cannot be waived, or excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

6. Alerts from the National Meteorological Service (SMN)

  • We show the current official alerts of Argentina's Servicio Meteorológico Nacional, taken from its public feed, which the SMN publishes under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license (CC BY 4.0). Source: Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (www.smn.gob.ar). Alerts are shown as the SMN publishes them and may be delayed by up to about 15 minutes.
  • The Site is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by the SMN, and the SMN is not responsible for how we display or interpret its information. Alerts exist for Argentina only. The official color and text are always at smn.gob.ar/alertas, which prevails over what the Site shows.
  • If we cannot read the feed, the Site tells you (“we could not check”); that never means there are no alerts. The absence of an alert on the Site is not a guarantee that none exists.
  • In an emergency do not rely on the Site: follow the instructions of the SMN, civil protection and local authorities, and call 911 (Argentina) or the emergency number of your country.

7. Marine: estimated waves and tides

  • Wave, swell, water temperature and tide data are model estimates and may differ from what actually happens on the coast, especially in estuaries, rivers, harbors and bays. They do not include the effect of wind or pressure on the water level (for example, the sudestada).
  • Official tides in Argentina are those published by the Servicio de Hidrografía Naval (SHN, www.hidro.gob.ar). The Site's data does not replace them.
  • The Site is not suitable for navigation or for sea-safety decisions (sailing, fishing, swimming, surfing, diving, crossing channels or sandbanks). For that, use the SHN tables and the notices of the Argentine Naval Prefecture or the maritime authority of your country. The fishing section is only indicative and does not guarantee results.

8. Air quality, UV index and moon: informational only

  • Air quality, UV index and moon phase are shown for information only. They are estimated or calculated values and may differ from local measurements.
  • They are not medical or health advice. If you have a respiratory, heart, skin or other condition, or doubts about how to protect yourself, consult a health professional.

9. Time and time zones

  • Times, time differences and time zones are calculated with the IANA time zone database and may not reflect recent government changes to time rules or particular local situations.
  • Do not use the Site's time for legal, contractual, transport or trading purposes or for critical synchronization; always check with an official source.

10. Telegram notifications (optional)

  • When enabled, you can ask the Convertilo bot (@convertiloar_bot) to notify you on Telegram of SMN alerts affecting an area you choose. It is optional and requires Telegram, a third-party service subject to its own terms and policies.
  • Notifications are informational. Alerts are checked about every 15 minutes, so there can be delays; they can also fail, arrive incomplete, repeat or not arrive, because of problems with Telegram, the SMN, your device or our systems. Not receiving a notification does not mean there is no alert.
  • This is not an emergency or early-warning service and does not replace official warnings: in an emergency follow the instructions of the SMN and civil protection, and call 911.
  • You can have up to three areas per chat. We may modify, limit or discontinue this service at any time. You can see your areas with /avisossmn and delete them with /cancelarsmn. The data involved is described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Guides and informational content

  • The Site's guides and explanatory texts (for example, on alert colors, tides, zonda wind, sudestada, the UV index or how to read a forecast) are general and educational: they simplify complex phenomena and are not professional meteorological, medical, legal or safety advice.
  • Official definitions and warnings are those of the competent agencies. If a guide differs from an official source, the official source prevails.

12. Attributions and licenses

  • Weather, air quality and marine data: Weather data by Open-Meteo.com (https://open-meteo.com/). Open-Meteo data is offered under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license (CC BY 4.0) and comes from national weather service models (among others ECMWF, DWD and NOAA).
  • Alerts: Servicio Meteorológico Nacional of Argentina (https://www.smn.gob.ar), CC BY 4.0 license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).
  • Rain radar: © RainViewer (https://www.rainviewer.com).
  • Maps: © OpenStreetMap contributors (https://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright), available under the Open Database License (ODbL).
  • Interactive map: Leaflet (https://leafletjs.com), free software under the BSD 2-Clause license, © Vladimir Agafonkin and contributors.
  • Country outlines on the globe: Natural Earth, public domain (through the world-atlas package).
  • Trademarks and names mentioned belong to their owners. Each provider's license governs its data; these Terms do not change them.

13. Third-party services and sites

  • The Site depends on third-party services (hosting, data providers, maps, radar and Telegram) and may link to other sites. We do not control those services or their content and are not responsible for them; they are governed by their own terms and policies.
  • If a provider changes, limits or interrupts its service, parts of the Site may show incomplete data or stop working.

14. Acceptable use

  • You may use the Site for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not use it for unlawful purposes, try to breach its security, access systems or data that are not yours, or overload it with automated requests.
  • You may not mass-copy, automatically extract (scrape) or reuse the Site's content or data, or present the forecast as your own or as official, without prior written permission. The Site does not offer a public API or widget.
  • We may limit or block access for anyone who breaches this section, without prior notice.

15. Intellectual property

  • The design, code, texts and organization of the Site belong to its owners, without prejudice to the third-party data and materials listed in section 12, which keep their own licenses.
  • No license is granted over the Site's content beyond the personal use allowed by these Terms.

16. Availability, changes and suspension

  • The Site may be interrupted, fail or be suspended because of maintenance, provider problems or usage limits of the data sources.
  • We may modify, limit, suspend or stop offering features (including marine, air, radar, search, guides and notifications), or change providers, at any time and without prior notice.

17. Force majeure

The owners are not liable for failures or delays caused by events beyond their reasonable control, such as failures of hosting, connectivity or data-source providers, cyberattacks, power outages, legal restrictions or any other force majeure event.

18. Severability and entire agreement

If any provision of these Terms is declared invalid or unenforceable, the others remain in force. If versions in different languages differ, the Spanish version prevails.

19. Changes to these Terms

  • We may modify these Terms at any time; the current version is the one published on this page, with its update date. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept it.

20. Governing law and jurisdiction

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of the Argentine Republic. Any dispute will be submitted to the competent courts of the Argentine Republic, without prejudice to the rights you have as a consumer under applicable law.
